Overview

As of TraCS Version 16, Baseline 20.0.55, TraCS login sessions will expire after 12 hours, regardless of activity.

This is per CJIS policy.   Questions regarding the CJIS policy should be directed to your agency LASO or your FDLE auditor.

Session Timeout - Version 16

If users are still signed in after 12 hours, they will not be able to pull form numbers or open attachments, and they will get no results when searching.   If they create a citation from a crash form, it will not generate a UTC number.   Forms they are working on will not sync with the server, and any new defaults that have been set up will not save.

Users must exit out of TraCS and log back in to restore connectivity.

If a user cannot pull numbers, open attachments, or perform searches, the first step in resolving the issue is to log out and back in to restore connectivity.

Users will get a prompt to sign out at 11 hours and 30 minutes and again at 11 hours and 45 minutes.   Example below.

After 12 hours, the following prompt will appear:

If a user is still signed in after 12 hours, the TraCS application will still be open and the green bars at the upper right will indicate that they are online.   However, they are no longer connected to the database.

They will get no results when searching and will get a prompt like the one below when attempting to pull form numbers on crashes, citations, and warnings.

Any forms they are working on will not sync with the server.

Any new defaults set up during that session will not save to the user profile, such as name and agency info on forms, zoom level, night mode, and favorite searches.

Users must exit out of TraCS and log back to restore connectivity and then attachments, searches, and pulling numbers will work again.   Any forms that are pending upload will sync with the server.

If a user cannot pull numbers, open attachments, or perform searches, the first step in resolving the issue is to log out and back in to restore connectivity.

Session Timeout - Version 17

If a user is still signed in after 12 hours, TraCS will close and the user will be logged off.

Users will get a prompt to sign out at 11 hours and 30 minutes and again at 11 hours and 45 minutes.

After 12 hours, the following prompt will appear:

Best Practices

Do not leave TraCS open for an extended period of time.

If you won't be using the system for a time (meal break, dispatched to a call, end of shift, etc.), exit out of forms that you are working on, and log out by pressing the X at the upper right corner or by pressing the Exit button on the File tab at the upper left.   If you are prompted to upload forms, answer Yes.
