Overview

The Signal 4 Diagram tool is available for use on the crash form at no cost to agencies.

All new TraCS agencies will be set up with the Signal 4 Diagram automatically.

All existing TraCS agencies who are not using Easy Street Draw (ESD), Visio, Quick Scene, or Scene PD already have the Signal 4 Diagram tool.

If you use ESD, Visio, Quick Scene, or Scene PD, we do offer the option of having both the standard Diagram module and the Signal 4 module available to users. Contact TraCS Support for further information.

Troubleshooting

Hanging on Initializing Screen

After pressing the Diagram Tool button, if the tool hangs on "Initializing diagram" and the diagram does not launch, you have poor network connectivity.

Try moving to another location. If the issue persists, contact your IT department.

Wrong Vehicle Shape Showing on Diagram

The diagram tool looks at the Vehicle Body Type field near the bottom of the Vehicle module when placing the vehicle icon on the crash diagram.

Per page 21 of the HSMV Crash Manual, the Vehicle Body Type space "is used to identify the general configuration or shape of the motor vehicle distinguished by characteristics such as number of doors, rows of seats, windows, or roof line."

This means that the Vehicle Body Type that you select should be the closest match to the configuration or shape of the motor vehicle involved in your crash.

If the incorrect vehicle shape is showing on your diagram, for instance a semi-truck (Medium/Heavy Truck) instead of a box truck (Other Light Trucks), close out of the diagram, go to the vehicle in question, and select Other Light Trucks. Relaunch the diagram and the updated vehicle icon will be there.

Do not use Other Explain in Narrative unless you are absolutely sure your vehicle doesn't match one of the listed types. Other Explain in Narrative will place a low-speed vehicle shape on your diagram. If this happens, close out of the diagram, go to the vehicle in question, and change it to the one that is the closest match to the configuration or shape of the motor vehicle involved in your crash.

Diagram Won't Save - Stuck on "Please Wait" Progress Bar

After saving your diagram and exiting out of the diagram tool, if TraCS is hanging on the Please Wait progress bar, the Crash Diagram Interface prompt that places the diagram on the crash form has minimized to your task bar.

Float your mouse over the TraCS icon in your task bar and you will see the prompt there. Click on it to maximize and press OK and the diagram will save to your crash.

Diagram Saves - Map Doesn't Show

If your diagram shows the point of impact, vehicles, and other items but the map is grayed out and not showing, check to make sure you are using either Chrome or Edge for your browser. Firefox will produce a map like the one shown below.

Exit out of the crash and change your default browser from Firefox to Chrome or Edge.

Open the crash, launch the diagram, and resave and the map will appear as it should.
