UTC Expired Statutes
When statutes are removed from Appendix C due to legislative changes, verbiage changes, or other reasons, they are marked as expired in TraCS.
Expired statutes will not be available if you use the data bar to search. However, they will still show on the list if you press the Search button. The statutes cannot be removed from the Search list because it would remove them from the database and affect historical forms.
If you select an expired statute from the Search list, you will not be able to validate your citation, and you will get an error like the one shown below.
If you have an expired statute saved as a favorite, remove it by highlighting it and pressing Clear Favorite. A screenshot is at the bottom of this page.
In the case of 316.646(1), the violation was split into two sections in July 2024. The violation with the previous verbiage was removed from Appendix C and expired in TraCS. Officers should select the statute with the updated verbiage that applies.
