Street List - Additions and Updates
Street Lists
The street lists in the Occurred On Street, Road, or Highway field on TraCS forms are provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). They update the list periodically.
TraCS will only update the records in our system when we receive an official updated list from FDOT.
Per the FDOT Geographic Mapping Project Manager, they distribute the data but they do not make changes to it, and any requests for additions or changes should be made to HERE Technologies.
You may sign up for a free HERE account at https://mapcreator.here.com/ to request changes.
Map Issues
Signal 4 Plotting
If you are getting "Accept Point Only" when plotting a location using the Signal 4 Location tool, first, be sure that you have selected the Location Type that matches the area where your incident occurred.
For example, if you select Intersection and then plot outside of an intersection, you will get "No intersection found within on basemap within 100 feet." Or, if you select Road Segment and then plot an at an intersection or off-roadway location, you will get "No road segment found within on basemap within 100 feet." In both instances, replot by moving the point or by selecting the correct Location Type and replotting the location.
If you have selected a Location Type that matches the area where your incident occurred and you are getting "Accept Point Only," take a screenshot of the popup and the surrounding area and report the issue to Signal 4 Support. Include the screenshot along with the city, county, and any other information pertaining to the area.
Other issues with plotting should also be reported to Signal 4.
Signal 4 does not handle street name additions, updates, or corrections on the map itself.
Google Map
Street additions, updates, or errors on the map itself may be reported to Google via the Report a Map Error link at the bottom right of the map.
When plotting your crash location, if you find that the satellite map image is not updated, you may toggle to map view by pressing the Map button at the upper right to see most recent version of the street map, which will be more accurate.
Example below.
