Unused Citation Numbers
When you request citation numbers from FLHSMV, if you have a lot of unused citation numbers, they will send you a notification similar to the one below. The notification will tell you how many unused citation numbers you have.
This number includes the following types of citation numbers. Your agency may not use all of them.
Unused TraCS UTC numbers
Unused TraCS DUI numbers
Unused UTC numbers from your previous vendor(s)
Unused DUI numbers from your previous vendor(s)
Unused red light camera numbers
Unused school zone camera numbers
Books of paper unused paper citations
Voided paper citations or numbered eCitations that have not been reported to the state.
Deleted numbered eCitations that should have been marked as Voided and reported to HSMV. In TraCS, these citations will have a status of User Deleted.
Citations that were issued and require a court appearance that were not delivered to the clerk by the agency. In TraCS, these citations will have a status of Mailed.
Paper citations or eCitations that did not get submitted to the clerk's office. In TraCS, these will be numbered citations that are in Open, Validated, or Rejected status.
You may email courtassist@flhsmv.gov and ask them for a spreadsheet of your unused number range(s).
- Any range that has the letter P on the end of the number are paper citations. However, not all paper citation number ranges will end in P.
Most electronic citations end in the letter E, but some older citation numbers may end with a different letter or a number.
If you are not sure if numbers are paper or electronic, ask HSMV for guidance.
It is up to the agency to determine whether the numbers provided by HSMV are unused or were assigned to citations at some point. In TraCS, you may run the analysis report called Form Numbers Detailed to get a list of your used and available numbers.
TraCS cannot provide information on citation numbers that were assigned to the agency for previous vendor(s). We will not add unused numbers from a previous vendor to our system.
HSMV can void unused numbers from previous vendor(s) at the agency's request. See the Overview section on this page for HSMV requirements. It is up to the agency to do the research needed to determine if the numbers are indeed unused.
